I had a couple of these bureau/desk with opening flap, so I thought I would have a play around with one of them.
I was undecided of the colour paint to use, so random it would be. Just selecting colours whether they matched or not. As the chalk paint colours are mainly pastel shades, they just blended into each other.
The main problem with this piece of furniture was that the wood had been dyed before it was varnished, and as much as I tried it still came through the chalk paint, and when sanding became more prominent. Perhaps this helped to bring the different colours together.
All the drawers have been lined with various coloured card some embossed.
The drawers have lovely decorative handles, a metal flat flower with a seed bead center fixed in place with a metal pin.
This picture shows the transformation of my little bureau.
